Port Douglas Business and Tourism Awards
On Friday the 25th November 2016 the Douglas Business and Tourism Awards were held at the Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas. Each year the gala event is held to recognise excellence in first class tourism and celebrate premium businesses in our Shire. It is the night of nights with tour operators and industry leaders in the one room to celebrate their achievements. There were many categories to be awarded on the night and we had to wait until near end of the night when the Category for “ Best Tour Guide of the Year” and ‘’ Best Daintree Rainforest / River Tour’’ were read out.
There were many nominees and worthy finalists in both categories and we were thrilled to have four of our guides as finalists for the Best Tour Guide award with Tony taking out the Runner-up award. That was most pleasing however the moment came for the announcement of the Best Tour Guide of 2016, and what a great achievement to see Steve – one our very passionate Daintree Rainforest guides win this one. We were absolutely thrilled for him. Well deserved.
Then finally came the moment of The Best Daintree Rainforest/River Tour and again the runner- up was announced and again, another worthy competitor, then the final moment came to announce the winner….and as they say, the rest is history. Yes, we did it again, another win and recognition for all the years of hard work, dedication and consistency by everyone at Tony’s Tropical Tours.
We thank everyone who voted for us and supports us. Well done to The Newsport – Port Douglas for organising a great fun night and hosting these awards. It is an honour and a privilege to receive these awards. We have worked long and hard and we very much appreciate the opportunity to showcase Tropical North Queensland’s Daintree Rainforest to all our guests.
